Mediasation Selected by Greenville Hospital System to Develop Interactive Kiosks
for Turrentine Heart Education Center
(Greenville, SC: February 23, 2007) Mediasation, a Greenville-based Web development
firm, has been selected by Greenville Hospital System to develop software for
six interactive kiosks at the Turrentine Heart Education Center. Announced on
February 23, 2007, the Turrentine Heart Education Center will feature museum-quality
interactive displays, a library, online research, health assessment programs,
amphitheater and children’s area with age-appropriate information about heart
disease. As one of only two hospital-affiliated heart education centers in the
nation, it is expected to attract upwards of 10,000 visitors per year, including
students, the community at large, patients and their families.
Powered by Mac Minis and touch-screen displays, the kiosks host videos, presentations,
and interactive games that help inform and educate visitors about heart procedures
and ways to maintain a healthy heart. The center’s Kid’s Corner also includes
games promoting healthy eating. The interactive kiosks will be instrumental to
the center in not only creating an interactive experience for center visitors
but will also offer them the ability to preview a handful of DVDs available in
the center library and view various presentations.
“The Turrentine Heart Education Center showcases the latest advances in cardiac
care and cutting-edge technologies used at GHS, and we wanted to partner with
a development firm that would help us present the center at the highest levels,”
says Gina Turcotte, director with the Heart Institute at the Office of Philanthropy
and Partnership. “We have worked with Mediasation on a number of projects, and
their work is second-to-none. Their involvement was a natural fit for us.”
The initiative will be an important tool in the prevention, early detection and
rehabilitation essential to win the fight against heart disease. As such, it will
be a leader in heart education for South Carolina
